Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition often developing after an injury. It is characterized by severe, burning pain, swelling, changes in skin color and temperature, and hypersensitivity in the affected limb. The exact cause is unclear, but it is believed to involve dysfunction of the peripheral and central nervous systems. Treatment typically involves pain management, physical therapy, and in some cases, nerve blocks or spinal cord stimulation.
