What is Stellate Ganglion Block?

The stellate ganglion is a collection of nerves in the lower neck that plays a critical role in regulating the body’s sympathetic nervous system, which controls our “fight or flight” response. In patients suffering from PTSD, anxiety, or other related disorders, this system may remain overactive, leading to persistent symptoms.
SGB involves the precise injection of a local anesthetic near the stellate ganglion, temporarily disrupting this heightened sympathetic activity. This reset can result in rapid and significant symptom relief, often after just one or two injections.

Conditions Treated with SGB

SGB has shown promising results for patients who suffer from:
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression related to trauma
  • Chronic Pain Syndrome
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Sleep disturbances and hypervigilance
